Opener story
A silver coin drops to the pavement from the bright blue sky above seemingly coming from nowhere. The silver coin was most definitely confused. Why would someone throw him away? Was he not shiny enough? Was he not worth something to someone?
The silver coin walks down the street trying to remember the questions that defined his existence. The sun in the sky made his body shine a lustrous silver , and although his mind was very much perplexed , he smiled knowing that he looked absolutely great.
The silver coin turns and sees a man sitting by a corner. The silver coin had been in the pocket of many a man , but this small man eluded him. He was small and scruffy with stubble from nearly every possible place on his face. His eyes were distant and he had a bottle of Jack Daniels in his fist. The silver coin walks up to this peculiar entity and gives the man a kick. He does not budge. A small murmur escapes his lips but nothing more. The silver coin was getting bored—the silver coin didn’t like drunks. He needed to find someone else.
The silver coin give his heels a click and walks onward. Soon , from the corner of his eye, he sees a wallet. The wallet is smoking a cigarette by a lamppost and seems to enjoy puffing smoke and contributing to even more passive smoking. The wallet was also wearing knee high boots, black stockings and a top that didn’t leave much to the imagination. The silver coin opens his fist and offers a hand to the wallet. The wallet is not impressed. It scratches it’s button and gives his ciggy a flick.
“What do you want?” the wallet asks.
“Erm…somewhere…I’m looking for somewhere to be.”
“Aren’t we all”, the wallet sighs, “..aren’t we all.”
The wallet re-adjusts its bra and looks at the coin, cocking an eyebrow.
“Wanna be inside me?”
The silver coin did not like this ‘wallet’. He or She was too utterly weird. The silver coin bids farewell to the wallet and goes on his way although the wallet gave him some sort of odd finger gesture the coin was not quite familiar with.
The day was coming to an end. The silver coin jumps up onto a park bench and waits for the sun to set. It was a nice change. Usually all he saw was the dark confines of a pocket or wallet and never saw the light of day so clearly as he did now. The silver coin looks out over the horizon and wonders what tomorrow will bring.
I feel guilty admitting I like number 8 the most, because it doesn’t really follow the requirements we’re looking for in the assignment.
How exciting the story your partner came up with from your coin story. I’m not sure it was your original intention, but it’s certainly inventive.
